① The moisture content of barley stored in warehouse should be determined first. The standard of moisture content for safe storage of barley is below 12%. When the moisture content is higher than 15%, it is not easy to store and easy to heat and mold. When the moisture content of barley is high, it should be spread in the sun or dried at low temperature (below 50 ℃) to reduce the moisture content to below 12%. This is because the respiration of barley is very weak under this moisture content. When the moisture content of barley is between 12% and 14%, it can be stored for 3 ~ 5 months by controlling the air humidity and timely ventilation to prevent mold growth.
② For barley with different moisture content, varieties and producing areas, the moisture content should be measured in batches, stacked, stored and kept according to the moisture content, and various records should be made.
③ Before the barley is stored in the warehouse, it should be checked to remove the impurities such as chaff, ash and the pests that may bring people. To check the situation of mold pollution, we can take corresponding measures to inhibit the growth of mold.
④ Different storage methods have appropriate storage requirements. For example, the bagged stacking should be empty from the ground, separated from the seam, not attached to the wall (indoor), not ultra-high (each stack should be 10 ~ 20 bags high); bulk storage should be bottomed (wheat straw or reed mat) overhead, with holes (with hollow breathable material), often need to be spread and ventilated; vertical storage should be ventilated, turned, regularly sterilized and recorded temperature, etc.
⑤ The newly collected Microbrewery barley with high temperature and seriously polluted mould or the barley which has been drenched in the rain or not well kept in the grain warehouse should not be stored in the brewery warehouse.For a microbrewery, commercial brewery or nano brewery system, The main work of barley storage is to measure moisture and temperature in the brewery, ventilate, remove insects and sterilize, and keep records at the same time.
