If the brewmaster brewing one time per day,it is ok without hot liquor tank considring the budget. Then we can recycle the hot water into Mash/Lauter tank directly(we need clean the tank in advance). And the hot water can be used at second day. The temperature will be lower and colder after one night, although, at least we saved the water.
If the brewmaster brewing two times per day,for save mashing time and fast turn over the tanks, it is better to have a hot liquor tank to recyle hot water for quickly start the second mash in one day. Also the hot water can use for sparging.
Our standard configuration of hot liquor tank is same capacity with brewhouse. Also now most brew masters prefer bigger capacity hot liquor tank for brewhouse. Usually it can be 1.5-2 times bigger than brewhouse.
And we think it always is a good thing in the long run with hot liquor tank. Then what is your idea?
