In the past years, i noted that there are some trend in the microbrewery equipment design. Firstly, people prefer three vessels brewhouse more than normal two vessels, even though they only do one batch per day or max two batches. The combination is Mash/Kettle Tun + Lauter Tun + Whirlpool Tun. In this configuration, the lauter tun and the whirlpool tun has been independent because of their special function in mashing while Mashing and Boiling can be happened in one tank with similar working principle. Secondly, on base of the three vessels, the lauter tun is prefered to be designed much wider and bigger to make some special high gravity beer which is extremely pursued by more and more brew masters. Will the high plato craft beer attract more and more drinkers in USA? Or perhaps, this can embody the ‘unique’ and ‘special’. The whirlpool tun is the same as Lauter tun which should be designed in a certain H/D. Thirdly, the cold water tank has been already very common. The big glycol water tank has been dropped down in a lot of breweries.
