What should be noted during the usage of heat exchanger?
Something should be noted when you cooling the wort by heat exchanger:
1.The heat exchanger, especially the wort pipes should be sterilized by hot water higher than 80℃, and the cycle time cannot lower than 30min. The wort can only be transferred to yeaster feeder after the water in the heat exchanger was totally discharged out by wort.
2.During the cooling progress, the inlet and outlet of the wort and cold water should be checked regularly, and control the temperature of these places at suitable temperature ±0.5℃ by adjusting the flow by valves. The wort in the heat exchanger should be totally drained by hot water after the cooling finished.
3.The total cooling time-consumption better within 60 min, the wort quality and the use ratio of whirlpool tun may be effected if too longer time.
Regularly disassembly and cleaning of the head exchanger plate is needed. We all know the cold sludge or hop resin will adhere on the plate which will effect the working efficiency. The plate should be steep in the 1-2% hot alkaline water firstly, remove the dirt with brush and then wash with clean water.
4. The max working pressure of the heat exchanger is 1Mpa generally. There will be pressure difference between the side of cooling water and wort. In feneral the nomal working pressure is 0.2-0.4Mpa. Too higher pressure difference will deform the plate and effect the performance of gasket. So please pay attention to the pressure during usage.
